CRUCIFIXION part 18
JESUS APPEARS TO HIS DISCIPLES
MARY MAGDALENE WAS THE FIRST TO SEE HIM AFTER HIS RESURRECTION AND
JESUS APPEARS TO TWO DISCIPLES AND FOLLOWERS
Mark ends his book with the story about the appearances of Jesus. He does not mention how Jesus walked the earth for forty days. He tells everyone to tell others about Jesus wherever they go.
Mark 16:9-20 After Jesus came back to life early on Sunday, he appeared first to Mary from Magdala (Magdalene), from whom he had forced out seven demons. She went and told his friends who were grieving and crying. They didn't believe her when they heard that he was alive and that she had seen him.
Later Jesus appeared to two disciples as they were walking to their home in the country. He did not look as he usually did. They went back and told the others, who did not believe them either.
Still later Jesus appeared to the eleven while they were eating. He put them to shame for their unbelief and because they were too stubborn to believe those who had seen him alive.
Then Jesus said to them, "So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News." Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Luke 24:13-35 On the same day, two of Jesus' disciples were going to a village called Emmaus. It was about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking to each other about everything that had happened. While they were talking, Jesus approached them and began walking with them. Although they saw him, they didn't recognize him. He asked them, "What are you discussing?"
They stopped and looked very sad. One of them, Cleopas, replied,"Are you the only one in Jerusalem who doesn't know what has happened recently.
"What happened?" he asked.
They said, "We were discussing what happened to Jesus from Nazareth. He was a powerful prophet in what he did and said in the sight of God and all the people. Our chief priests and rulers had him condemned to death and crucified. We were hoping he was the one that would free Israel. What's more, this is now the third day since everything happened.
Jesus was not a prophet. He was God, as in three Godheads in One, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are three different entities, but all the same and One. I know, it is hard to understand, but this is where faith comes in. We must have faith and believe. Also, Jesus came to die on the cross to save all those whom God the Father has called to Jesus who answer his call. Some such as us, had not been born , yet. He did not come to free Israel from Roman Empirial rule. The Roman Empire is represented by iron for their cruel dictatorship and governent. They invented crucifixion.
Then Jesus said to them, "How foolish you are! You are so slow to believe everything the prophets said! Didn't the Messiah have to suffer these things and enter into his glory?" 'Then he began with Moses' Teachings and the Prophets to explain to them what was said about him throughtout the Scriptures. When they came near the village where they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. They urged him, "Stay withh us! It's getting late, and the day is almost over." So he went to stay with them. While he was at the table with them, he took bread and blessed it. He broke the bread and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. But he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, "Weren't we excited when he talked with us on the road and opened up the meaning of the scriptures for us?" That same hour they went back to Jerusalem. They found the eleven apostles and those who were with them gathered together. They were saying, "The LORD has really come back to life and has appeared to Simon." Then the two disciples told what had happened on the road and they had recognized Jesus when he broke the bread.
The Christian religion is the only one that has a risen Lord. All other religions worship dead gods or images. They do not have a risen Lord. Jesus was seen by various people, women, men, and the disciples. Though they doubted, were puzzled, unbelieving, in the end, they believed. Our Lord sent them the Holy Spirit, then; they had the power to do what he had done. Jesus also said, "He who believes will be saved, he who does not believe will be condemned."
It is true that God is sovereign, his is the privelege to call you to Jesus or not. So if you hear his call today, answer yes. It will not be a voice you can hear, but it is that voice that tells you, I love my mom, father, husband, sister, brother, children. You do not hear a voice telling you this, but you know it in your inner being. Be like the thief on the cross, He simply asked Jesus, "When you get to heaven, remember me." And Jesus answered, "Tonight you will be with me in paradise." All you have to do is ask our Lord Jesus Christ, "I want you to be my Lord and Savior, forgive all my past sinful life. I know that from now on I will be your child, your forgiven child. You will be my Father and will be perfecting me the rest of my life in the image of Jesus. In this I trust, believe, and place my faith. Amen. Amen"
