FOOD PUT TO THE TEST
THE TEST
There has always been a competiveness among the meat eating population and the vegetarians or vegans as to whose diet is the best.. MEATS ARE USUALLY ACCOMPANIED BY SOME TYPE OF ALCOHOL, WHERE VEGGIES ARE USUALLY TAKEN WITH WATER. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. IN AMERICA THERE ARE SO MANY COMBINATIONS OF FOOD AND DRINK TO DRIVE ONE TO OBESITY. Daniel was not so much concerned with his health, as he was with the facts that God did not want his priesthood to drink wine or eat unclean foods. It is true that Daniel is in Babylon, a slave of the king, but he considered God his first commander, not this pagan Babylonian king. So Daniel asks the chief official to put the two diets to the test. The one Daniel suggests and the one provided by the king.
Daniel 1:11- Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearences with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see." So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. At the end of ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzer. The king talked with them and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Misheal, and Azariah; so they entered the king's service. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his own kingdom. And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
Right! So now we know which is the better food and drink for humans. There has always been this knowledge about. After all God first provided men with grains and veggies. Later on he gave them permission to eat animal flesh, but only of certain animals. We have a long intestine, better suited for grains and veggies. Animals on the other hand, those who are carnivores have a shorter intestines. Food goes in and out fast, so meats and such have no time to putrefy in the inside as it does in humans. So we do have a disadvantage by continuing to eat meats. Then, if you add fermented wine and or other alcoholic drinks, it makes things more complicated. And I am certain that Daniel and his friends never had the problems of obesity, liver disease, diabetes, and the list goes on, that comes with over doing the meats, wines and spirits.
