This fantastic bishop came on TBN yesterday. He was telling a story about how he was started by God in his ministry. After his schooling at seminary, God told him to go to Flordia. He had just married also. By the time he made the trip and was in Flordia, he was flat broke. So he started complaining to God, like many of us do also. "Why did you send me to Flordia, why not New York, etc? Here I am flat broke with a new wife and no money to give her. And the fridge is empty." Apparently, they had a place to live in, but not much else. Then he heard the voice of God telling him, "Go to the grocery store and buy groceries." Bishop Fernandez was dumbfounded. "What, go grocery shopping with no money." Again the Lord spoke to him. "Go to the grocery store and buy groceries." After the third time he told his wife, "Let's go buy groceries." Now, it was her turn to be astonished. "With what?" Bishop Fernandez said, "God has spoken to me to go buy groceries at the grocery store and we have to go." Well, he realized that this was a test of faith. They shopped at the store and kept trying to keep each other's spirits up, after all; they had no money. Bishop Fernandez told his wife, "We have nothing to lose, either they send me to jail, let us go, or a miracle happens." They got to the checkout counter. His wife said, "I'll wait for you in the car." He told her, "No, we will do this together." Suddenly, the front door opened and someone he knew walked up to him and said, "Bishop Fernandez, I was asleep and woke up. The Lord told me you would need this." Then he shook hands with the Bishop and the Bishop felt some paper in his hand. It was money, enough for the groceries and a taxi ride home. He said he had a worshipping moment right there, no choir, no altar no music. Now, he has built Christian colleges and other stuff, because he says he was faithful in the small, God blessed him with much, because he had FAITH. He says sometimes God tells us to do something in faith and we do not do it, and; we miss our blessing. He also said that if he had known God was going to send someone with the money needed for the groceries, he would have shopped for more groceries! Let's not forget the support his wonderful wife showed when she bravely stood by him, even though she had wanted to "wait in the (nonexistent) car." Wives should stand by their men when most needed. Also, the brother being awaken by God in a dream and actually going to the grocery store to do as God had bidden him to do. That's how the church operated in the beginning.

I have been interested in the Bible for many years. I have been saved by Jesus Christ since the age of eleven. I am now sixty-seven. I did not study the Bible until the birth of my Downs Syndrome son, Geraldo, when I was thirty-five. Only in my LORD could I find comfort and consolation. So, I pray there are like minded souls out there. Leave a comment, no matter if you have positive or negative thoughts about what you read.
